Delivering Strategically and operationally
March 2026
The themes continues in 2026;
1) I am called back to former workplace, and
2) Roles include both strategic and operational elements.
The % split of where I am focused differs each time, but the benefit to SME’s of having someone to call who can transition from assisting with strategic clarity, to delivering operational elements solves multiple problems.
partnering with Foodbank

By working with EP CO, you are helping to end hunger in Australia.

A new, empowering organisational design
July 2025
Is it time to review how you do your work? I have a vision of a better way for organisations to succeed and grow, while supporting and retaining the best people. I call it the New 80/20 rule:
80% = Core Staff
20% = Bench of Specialised Talent
CORE STAFF are the leaders, the managers and those delivering the day-to-day work. These people understand the business, appreciate consistency and value that leadership, management and development is prioritised.
BENCH OF SPECIALISED TALENT. Highly skilled professionals who deliver specific requirements; high quality work in a minimum of time. These people appreciate flexibility and diversity.
This model creates significant benefits:
- high quality work across all areas
- work is delivered faster / on time
- improved workplace attractiveness to Core Staff
- reduced stress on Core Staff
- reduced time to recruit - not looking for “unicorns”
- organisational capability across the board is raised, creating new potential.

Applying Creative thinking
August 2025
I love getting creative with learning and lifting up those around me. A number of years back, I coordinated a series of Toastmasters courses at Methven Australia. Each session could have 12 participants.
I was conscious that if I had only Methven staff involved, their comfort levels would be too high and they wouldn't need to stretch. As such, I approached two local businesses, Swisse (Supplements), and Cardno (Infrastructure, Environment and International Development) to each submit 4 participants, and they agreed.
Over the next 6 months I coordinated 3 courses, with each of our businesses having 12 staff undertaking an exceptional Public Speaking Course run by Toast Masters.
Each of the participants benefitted greatly, having the opportunity to learn and practice valuable techniques for public speaking in a convenient and supportive environment.

Engaging teams
June 2024
Designing and delivering engagement days with, and for clients is a unique privilege. In the last 2 months there have been two occasions where I was able to design events to meet a clients specific needs. This were based on having developed a deep understanding of where they are and where they want to be.
One was a Ways of Working Workshop, where we reviewed their strategic goals, and then used various tools to look at how they could deliver that work through different lenses. This led to a realistic number of impactful actions being agreed to within the day.
The other was a Training day, where the team learnt critical information while reuniting and bonding after a challenging period of change.
Both events resulted in immediate positive feedback from participants, but most importantly, that the longevity of the learnings continues to be reported to me in unsolicited commentary.
REFLECTING FOR GROWTH
March 2026
February is a big month for me, but this year it was particularly special.
It marked Nathan and my 10 year wedding anniversary, which we celebrated with a spectacular family holiday in South Island, NZ. Stunning.
It also marked 4 years since I launched EPCO. This has been an exceptionally interesting part of my career to date, having had the opportunity to work alongside a huge variety of dedicated people.
It was also the month I worked with the wonderful Kiran Ali (with additional guidance of several exceptional Werkling’s) to review my career path. Thank you all.
On reflection, I have reconfirmed is that I am deeply interested in the work I have been undertaking.
ConnectNG WITH PEOPLE ‘oUTSIDE’
October 2025
It became apparent when I started EP CO that you can feel very disconnected when you are not in regular work.
To me it felt like floating outside the world, hoping someone connected with me or the messages I was sending out.
Even thought being in regular work has it’s own challenges and risks, the benefits often include stability, consistency and shared understanding with other people.
Which brings me to the point that if you know any consultants, people looking for work, or anyone you think might be feeling a lack of connection, it can be very much appreciated to reach out to them to find out what is going on for them.
